A collective effort to create a permanent lesbian* community house in Skala Eressos
Sapphic Roots Collective is a group of queer individuals involved in various aspects of queer-feminist activism, archives, and community organizing in Greece.
We are in the process of establishing a queer community center on the island of Lesvos that will serve both as an active social space and as an archive of a diverse range of herstories of the local lesbian* community. We aim to create a safe space for marginalised subjects and provide them with access to socialising, creativity, grassroots knowledge production, and further collaborative practices.
lesbian: We use the term “lesbian” as an inclusive umbrella for lesbian, bisexual, and queer women (cis and trans), as well as non-binary and intersex persons who feel connected to lesbian* identities and activism.
